Fifth Inning Dooms Softball Versus Tuskegee
Fifth Inning Dooms Softball Versus Tuskegee
An eight-run fifth inning doomed the Spring Hill College softball team as the Badgers lost the rubber match of the three-game series with Tuskegee, 9-1. Spring Hill now sits 16-15 on the season and 11-2 in SIAC play.

After stranding two runners on base in the bottom of the second inning, the Badgers came through in the bottom of the third with the game's first run. Janci Aube led off the inning with a double, then following a fly out, Meredith Fontenot joined her on the basepaths after being hit by a pitch. Meadow Villar beat out a single to the shortstop, loading the bases, bringing up Amanda Glowacki. She put the ball in play, but the result was a fielder's choice and just one run on the board.

Bethany Ahrens hadn't allowed a hit through the first three innings and worked her way out of a jam, stranding two Tuskegee runners in the fourth, but she hit the first two Tuskegee batters to open up the fifth inning and was replaced by Leighanna Turk. Turk was unable to work around the inherited runners and when the dust settled on the inning, Spring Hill found themselves in an 8-1 hole.

Tuskegee added one in the top of the seventh as the Badgers would fall, 9-1, to close out the weekend.

Spring Hill welcomes Mississippi College to Murray Field for a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 24th beginning at 2 p.m.
