HAMMOND, La. - Spring Hill College's beach volleyball team battled Division I member Southeastern Louisiana Tuesday afternoon at the Southeastern Beach Volleyball Complex, and when it was all said and done, Southeastern emerged with a 4-1 win over the Sandy Badgers.

Spring Hill (6-3) - which saw its five-match winning streak snapped with the loss - got its win from the No. 2 pair of Claire Hayes and Marissa Peck, who won their match 21-14, 22-20. The Lions (6-9) - which have won four of their last five matches - won the other matches in straight sets, but Spring Hill forced two matches to extra points in the second set before Southeastern was able to emerge with the win.

For Spring Hill, the team of Jaylyne Bell and Ashlyn Whiteside fell 21-12, 21-9 to Mia Savers and Gabriella Hrubanova at No. 1, Landry Tea and Alessandra Lane lost to Mia McKinney and Maggie Paiva, 21-13, 23-21, in the No. 3 match. At No. 4, Mia Johnson and Reagan Huff dropped a 21-17, 21-11 decision to Cadie Rush and Makayla Hicks, and in the No. 5 match, Lillie Casey and Megan Pulizzano lost 21-18, 21-16 to Elizabeth Hardouin and Genevieve Schubert.

In the extra match, the Sandy Badger pair of Felicity Evans and Isabella Granados also fought hard before losing, 21-15, 26-24 to Southeastern's Ally Alfonso and Taylor Stockwell.

Spring Hill - which fell to 4-6 all-time against Southeastern Louisiana - is back in action this weekend at the Spring Break Slam, hosted by Southern Mississippi at the Southern Miss Beach Volleyball Complex in Hattiesburg, Miss. The Sandy Badgers will face Southern Miss at 1:30 p.m. and the University of Louisiana-Monroe at 6 p.m. on Friday before taking on ULM at 9 a.m. and Southern Miss at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
