MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College softball team swept a doubleheader against visiting Delta State University this afternoon.  In game one, the Badgers secured a 13-5 run-rule victory, and then in game two picked up a 9-1 run-rule win.

The Badgers are now 4-3 on the season, and the Lady Statesmen fall to 0-7 on the year.

Spring Hill is on the road on Wednesday, Feb. 11th, when it travels to the University of Mobile for a 5 p.m. first pitch.

Game 1: Spring Hill 13, Delta State 5 – 5 innings
Head to the bottom of the first, down 4-0, the Badgers responded, and it all started when Janci Aube doubled to straightaway center. She later scored off of Jesslyn Gordon's RBI single to make it 4-1. Gordon then came around to score to cut the lead to 4-2 when Meredith Fontenot doubled to center.  Meadow Villar got in on the action when she tallied the team's fourth straight hit, which sent Fontenot third. With runners now on the corners for Spring Hill, Destiny Pierce's sac-fly to right scored Fontenot to make it a one-run game with one out now.

Bethany Ahren kept the inning going when she walked and sent Villar to second. The Badgers then loaded the bases off of Amanda Glowacki's single to left.  Delta State, after that, went to the bullpen, and the new pitcher was able to record the second out of the frame.  Spring Hill then tied the game on Oscha Carter's RBI walk before the inning ended.

Delta State broke the tie in the top of the fourth to take a 5-4 lead, but the Badgers once again responded as they plated seven runs on seven hits to go back in front 11-5.

Spring Hill tacked on two more runs in the fifth to go up 13-5 and secure the victory.
