ELMWOOD, La. - Spring Hill College opened its 2026 season Friday at the Green Wave Invitational, hosted by Tulane University at the White Sands Volleyball Courts. The Sandy Badgers took on a pair of Division I foes in Oregon and New Orleans, losing 5-0 to Oregon before earning a 3-2 win over New Orleans to finish the day 1-1.

Against Oregon (2-1), Spring Hill was swept in all six matches, but the Sandy Badgers made the Ducks work for their wins. At No. 2, Oregon's Daley McClellan and Elsa Snipes edged past Spring Hill's Claire Hayes and Marissa Peck, 21-19, 21-18, and at No. 5, the Sandy Badgers' pair of Lillie Casey and Reagan Huff pushed Landree Coats and Josie Griffiths to scores of 21-16, 21-16 before falling.

In the match versus New Orleans (0-2), Spring Hill got wins from the No. 3 pair of Landry Tea and Airyonna Weaver, who posted a 22-20, 21-17 victory, and the No. 4 team of Mia Johnson and Alessandra Lane, who earned a 21-19, 21-16 win in their match. However, it was the Sandy Badgers' team of Casey and Huff that provided the most excitement, battling back from being down a set to take the No. 5 match, 23-25, 21-18, 15-9 to give Spring Hill its first win of the new campaign.

The Sandy Badgers (1-1) now close out tournament play Saturday afternoon, taking on No. 12 LSU at 1:30 p.m.
