Hinton Tabbed SIAC Player of The Year
ATLANTA - The Spring Hill College Softball team had four student-athletes earn SIAC all-conference honors, including Rycca Hinton winning the SIAC Player of the Year award, the league announced Monday.
 
Hinton was also named to the all-conference first team at the outfield position. She dominated at the plate and the base pads against conference opponents. Within the conference, she finished with a batting average of .382 while getting on base nearly half of the times she was in the batter's box.
 
She also led the SIAC in home runs (11) and stolen bases (22). The senior finished top three in runs scored (28), runs batted in (27), OPS (1.420) and slugging percentage (.926). She also finished top 10 in hits (26), on base percentage (.494) and walks (14). She also had three extra base hits against conference opponents.
 
Taylor Pittman earned an All-Conference first team spot in the catcher position. She finished her senior year with an amazing season behind the plate. She finished with a .294 batting average with a .809 OPS.
 
In the SIAC, she finished fifth in sacrifice flies (2). She secured 15 hits, three of which earned extra bases and blasted one over the wall, she also had nine RBIs. Pittman was also able to draw 10 walks and stole two bases against SIAC opponents.
 
Defensively, she finished sixth in catching runners stealing (3), eighth in fielding percentage (1.000), and ninth in putouts (93).
 
Emma Curry secured her spot as a starting pitcher on the All-Conference first team. She seemed unhittable against SIAC opponents this season.
 
Curry led SIAC pitchers in ERA (1.24) while finishing top three in runs allowed (16), earned runs allowed (13) and doubles allowed (2). She also ranked top five in opponent batting average (.207) and hits allowed (37).
 
She put on an amazing campaign in the circle against SIAC opponents. She also showed amazing durability in conference games pitching six complete games, three of which were shutouts. She totaled 50.2 innings and faced 185 SIAC batters. She struck out 40 of them and only walked 13. Curry also won an SIAC Pitcher of the Week award in the season.
 
Leighanna Turk also got a starting pitching All-Conference second team award. She pitched lights out in conference games this year. She led the conference in home runs allowed, only giving up one to SIAC batters. She also finished top 10 in ERA (2.20), opposing batting average (.239), innings pitched (57.1), batters struck out looking (13), wins (6) and runs allowed (22). In conference games, she pitched five complete games, one of which being a shutout. Out of the 222 batters faced, she struck 38 of them and only walked 12.
