COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Spring Hill College softball team bounced back against Edward Waters with a near-perfect game in the SIAC Championship to stay alive.
Fort Valley State 3, Spring Hill 2
Tenison Myricks (W: 10-10); Emma Curry (L: 8-7)
Spring Hill (26-21, 18-4 SIAC) came up short in the first game of the SIAC Championship, falling in a close contest to Fort Valley State (23-20, 15-9 SIAC).
Jesslyn Gordon and Rycca Hinton led the Badgers, combining for four of the team's six hits. Taylor Pittman also drove in a run for SHC.
Jena Pacheco, Amanda Glowacki, McKenzie King, and Abigail Christ each drew a walk in the game.
Emma Curry (8-7) pitched a complete game, striking out five with no walks.

Leighanna Turk (W: 7-8); Keivana Durand (L: 10-7)
The second game was a tightly contested pitcher's duel, where both pitchers combined for 18 strikeouts.
In the first, Destiny Pierce drove in the game's only run with an RBI single through the middle. Hinton and Pittman collected the other two Badger hits.
Leighanna Turk (7-8) delivered an outstanding performance, throwing a one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts - her seventh shutout of the season.
