ATLANTA – The Spring Hill College women's basketball team's season came to an end in the SIAC Women's Basketball Championship quarterfinal at Forbes Arena on Thursday. The Badgers fell 56-40 to #2W Tuskegee.
The No. 6W-seeded Badgers (8-20, 6-13 SIAC) fought hard in their first SIAC tournament quarterfinal appearance under head coach
Dan Presel. Spring Hill trailed the Golden Tigers (19-9, 14-5 SIAC) by just two points, 16-14, through the end of the first ten minutes.
SHC closed the gap and took a 25-24 lead going into halftime. Tuskegee pulled ahead in the third quarter and kept the lead out of reach of the Badgers for the remainder of the game. Spring Hill suffered the 56-40 loss despite scoring more fast break points (5-2) and points off turnovers (14-13).
Kellyn Hunter led Spring Hill in scoring with 16 points and played all 40 minutes.
Marta Duda crashed the glass, leading the game with a season-high 16 rebounds.
