CLINTON, Miss. – The Spring Hill College track and field team started the 2025 campaign strong with multiple notable performances, including two program records, at the Mississippi College Spring Classic.
Â
In total, two school records were broken and 26 personal bests fell during the meet. Overall, 30 collegiate bests were established amongst newcomers.
Â
"Both of our teams got off to one of our best starts ever on Saturday," head coach
Craig McVey remarked. "This was probably one of the top two or three first meets of the season we've had since our track and field program began in 2013. This meet gets better for us every year."
Â
Freshman runner
Mariam Cosky clocked a new program-record time of 1:11.99 in the women's 400m hurdles. The record-breaking debut performance was good for second place in the event.
Â
Another freshman,
Brayden Martin knocked down a program record in the men's long jump. His 6.99m mark set a school record and earned him third place.
Â
"First meets are only first meets, but a great sneak peak of things to come," McVey noted while looking ahead. "With Spring Break right now, we have a lot of work to do before we head to the Montevallo Falcon Classic on March 14-15."
