Spring Hill Claims Two More Wins at SIAC Crossover

HOOVER, Ala. - The Spring Hill College softball team continued the SIAC Crossover with another set of wins against Savannah State, 10-2, and Albany State, 6-5.

In the first game of the day, Spring Hill (8-11, 6-1 SIAC) got out to an early lead against Savannah State (8-12, 4-6 SIAC) and never relinquished it.
 
Offensively, Jesslyn Gordon got the offense started with a two-RBI double, followed by runs from Bethany Ahrens and Gordon.
 
In the second, Destiny Pierce went deep for the Badgers for her second home run of the season.
 
To secure the victory, SHC capitalized on multiple errors in the sixth with an RBI single from Cat McCulley and Gordon.
 
Hinton (1-3) pitched the complete game, striking out a career-high 10 batters in 6.0 innings of work.

SHC's offense continued in the second game of the day against Albany State (9-7, 6-3 SIAC).
 
Hinton opened up the scoring with a solo home run in the opening frame. Oscha Carter added another run off a Golden Ram error.
 
The Badgers extended their lead in the second with an RBI single from McKenzie King. Later that inning, Hinton struck again with a two-run shot to left field.
 
In the fifth, Aherns ended the scoring run with her second home run of the season, sending a ball deep to center.

Emma Curry (4-3) started the game for the Badgers, pitching 1.1 innings with a strike out. Leighanna Turk earned the save, giving up just three hits and striking out three batters in 6.0 innings.
