Peggs Jr. Earns Second-Straight HBCU All-American Honor
MOBILE, Ala. – Walter Peggs Jr. became the first player in Spring Hill College men's basketball history to earn two-straight BOXTOROW HBCU All-America awards on Wednesday.
The award marks the second of Peggs' career and the first time that he has made the All-American first team. The senior from Jackton, Tenn., earned his second SIAC All-Conference first team honor this year.
Peggs broke the team's two-year career points per game record, averaging 21.3 games over two seasons. He ranked third in NCAA Division II with 26.4 points per game.
He drained 105 3-pointers, ranking second nationally in threes per game (4.04) while shooting 42.8 percent from distance. An efficient shooter, Peggs hit 48 percent from the field and 87 percent from the free-throw line. He also contributed 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game.
Peggs was named the SIAC Player of the Week on two occassions (1/21, 1/28) after a pair of outstanding performances in conference play. He joins an exclusive list of Badgers who have also earned first team all-american honors, including Beril Kabamba (2023) and Chase Shellman (2020).
