MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Spring Hill College Softball team split Tuesday's doubleheader against Montevallo at Orr Park.
GAME ONE | Montevallo 4, Spring Hill 2
Taylor Lloyd (W: 3-1): Emma Curry (L: 1-3)
Montevallo (7-5, 2-1 GSC) got on the board first with two runs in the third inning. The Falcons got two more runs across in the fourth and fifth.
Spring Hill (2-8, 0-0 SIAC) strung a couple of hits together in the top of the sixth from
Jesslyn Gordon and
Taylor Pittman. This was enough to get
Abigail Christ across the plate and cut into Montevallo's lead.
The next inning,
Kaylin Fincher got her first hit of the season that got
Amanda Glowacki into scoring position. Gordon then stepped up to the plate and drove her in with a sacrifice fly. The late rally wasn't enough to overcome the Falcon lead, however.
Emma Curry pitched a complete game, spanning 6.0 innings and struck out two batters.
GAME TWO | Spring Hill 9, Montevallo 0
Lauren Glass (W: 2-0); Berkley Mooney (L: 1-2)
The Badgers shutout the Falcons in the second game, scoring nine runs off ten total hits.
McKenzie King started off the scoring with an RBI double. Gordon slapped a two-run RBI single to right field to add to the Spring Hill lead.
In the third,
Destiny Pierce,
Taylor Pittman and King loaded up the bases before
Jena Pacheco earned a walk and Hinton singled to put two more runs on the board. She followed this up with a two-run homer into left field in the fifth to cap off the shutout victory.
Lauren Glass got the start and threw 5.0 scoreless innings in her second win of the season.
