Spring Hill College introduces Dan Presel as Women's Basketball Head Coach

MOBILE, Ala. – Spring Hill College Athletic Director Joe Niland officially introduced Dan Presel as the head coach of women's basketball on Tuesday at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.

Presel's hiring was announced on May 31 after he served as associate head coach at the University of South Alabama for 10 years.

Athletic Director Joe Niland
"When it came down to it, we found somebody who was a former student-athlete, long-time coach at the [NCAA] Division II, NAIA and Division I levels, has a great background and he played here."

Head Coach Dan Presel
"Thank you, Dr. [Mary] Van Brunt, Dr. [Rebecca] Cantor and Coach [Joe] Niland for this opportunity. Spring Hill is a great place, I'm super excited to be back."

"Great to be back, loved this place as a student. Got my start in coaching here and it's just great to be back in the Spring Hill community. I made so many great friends, so many great relationships here."

"I think great programs have great people. I think it's on me to make sure we're getting the correct fit for this school. Kids that are serious about participating in their own academic path to a great degree. Kids that want to be a part of a smaller community, the campus community, the Mobile community, kids that love to hoop and want to get after it. I want kids that want to support not just the women's basketball program, but other programs on campus and be a part of it. When you give that [support], you will get in return. We can get students and alumni here to watch games, but we got to make sure we are giving to get that back in return. My job is to work everyday to make it happen, to set a standard and hold us to it. I'm excited about the chance, I know we got a lot of work to do and that nothing great happens overnight, but I'm going to work like crazy to do everything I can to bring people here that'll share the vision and help us."
