CLINTON, Miss. -
John Abate highlighted the Spring Hill College track and field team's day with a win in the high jump at the Mississippi College Spring Cleaning on Saturday.
Abate, a redshirt junior, took the victory in the men's high jump after posting a 1.91m height, followed by
Chance Beard (1.71m), who placed sixth.Â
Sophomore pole vaulter
Abigail Remick marked a height of 2.45m and placed fifth in women's pole vault.
Garrett Baldwin (3.80m) and
Carrick Brogan (3.80m) placed sixth and eighth, respectively, in their first collegiate appearances in the men's pole vault.
Iman Walker finished 11th in the women's javelin throw with a 18.90m throw.
Grant Nastasi made his collegiate debut with a 15th-place finish in the men's 100m race and a time of 11.15 seconds.
Two other freshmen,
Tiana Smith (women's 200m) andÂ
Mohammed Shahrouj (men's 800m), made their collegiate debuts at the event.
