MOBILE, Ala. – Spring Hill College men's basketball guard Walter Peggs Jr. was named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
 
Peggs Jr. has led the Badgers to a 2-2 start with 70 points so far this season and is the first to recieve the weekly award since 2022. The junior out of Jackson, Tenn., ranks second in three-pointers per game with 3.5, fifth in free-throw percentage (.875) and sixth in the SIAC in scoring with 17.5 points per game.

The guard scored the game-winning three-pointer in the Badgers' 65-53 overtime win against Sunshine State Conference (SSC) member Rollins. He also led the offense with 21 points while shooting 4-of-7 from beyond the arc in the historic 78-61 win over West Florida.
