Women’s golf in fifth at Carey Collegiate after opening day
HATTIERBURG, Miss. – The Spring Hill College women's golf team held fifth place out of eight teams after the opening day at the Carey Collegiate on Monday.
 
The Badgers shot a 28-over-par 316 in the opening round at the Canebreak Country Club and sat in fifth place. Ella Parker and Mary McDaniel both lead Spring Hill tied for 10th overall after carding a 5-over-par 77. Natalie Michas was tied for 15th place after recording a 6-over-par 78. Olivia Leinhart was tied for 22nd after shooting an 8-over-par 80. Evie Graves sat in 24th after carding a 9-over-par 81, while Madleline Zimmerman was tied for 27th after carding an 11-over-par 83.
 
In the second round, McDaniel moved up to being tied for 6th after shooting a career-low 72. Michas moved up and was tied for 13th after recording a round score of 76 (+4). Leinart and Parker were tied for 19th with two-round scores of 158. Graves and Zimmerman tied for 30th with identical totals of 167.
 
The Badgers are scheduled to tee off the final round at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
