HATTIESBURG, Miss. (April 2, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women and men's Track & Field programs had another successful outing after setting 16 personal bests at the Southern Miss Invitational hosted by the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) on Friday and Saturday at the USM Track & Field and Soccer Complex .
"On Friday and Saturday at Southern Miss, we continued to make progress," said SHC Track & Field Head Coach
Craig McVey. "We had 16 collegiate bests on a warm, challenging day with a host of other team members within striking distance of additional best marks as well."
McVey continued, "
Brian Pempel continues to throw well in the javelin. He was 4
th in a tough field and his series of six throws was his best ever. He had four throws right at or above his new personal best of 51.14m (167'9").
Looking ahead toward the conference standings,
John Abate (high jump);
Brian Pempel (javelin);
Abigail Remick (pole vault); and
Claire Morgan (3,000-meter steeplechase) continue to lead the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic (SIAC) in their respective events.
"We're looking forward to UAB this weekend." McVey said. "It'll be our last tune-up before the SIAC Championship Meet in Rock Hill, S.C. on April 21-23."
