PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. (April 13, 2022) - The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's golf team won the 2022 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship Tournament by an impressive 38 strokes on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at Flat Creek Golf Course.
SHC junior
Pete Schilli (72, 75, 67, 214, -2) of Birmingham, Ala. recorded a personal and team's season best 67 during Wednesday's third and final round to sneak past teammate sophomore
Rasmus Malmborg (70, 75, 77, 222, +6) of Jonstorp, Sweden by eight strokes to secure the conference's individual championship.
As a team, the Badgers shot an 18-over par 882 (295, 301, 286) across the par-72, 6642-yard course to complete the 3-round event 38 strokes ahead of runner up Miles College (308, 313, 299, 920, +56).
Sophomore
Brennan Dolnick of Webster Groves, Mo. finished in a tie for 3
rd place in 224 strokes (74, 79, 71, +8) as fellow sophomore
Brayden Seguin (79, 73, 75, 227) was in 7
th position with +11 and junior
Alex Heib from St. Louis, Mo. shot a +15 score of 231 (80, 78, 73) for 9
th place.
Competing as an individual, sophomore
Yannik Wessel of Enhingen, Germany placed 5
th with a score of 225 (75, 75, 75, +9).
The 2022 championship marks the first SIAC crown for the Badgers men's golf program since transitioning to NCAA Division II in 2014.
SHC next competes at the 2022 NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regions Men's Golf Championships at Kinderlou Forest Golf Course on May 5-7, 2022 in Valdosta, Ga.
