BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (April 9, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women and men's outdoor Track & Field program had another successful outing on Friday and Saturday after setting eight personal bests at the Green & Gold Invitational/Multi hosted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) at the UAB Track & Field Complex.
"This weekend we ran into some weather challenges as did all teams in attendance," said SHC head coach
Craig McVey. "The wind on both days, especially Friday, made performing at a personal-best level really difficult. Friday's temperatures were brutally cold and made that day the most challenging."
McVey continued, "Setting eight personal bests was monumental given the environment we were competing in. To everyone's credit, we competed hard and had a number of marks that were seasonal bests for 2022 and just short of personal bests."
The Badgers turn their focus toward the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championships. "We now have our conference meet ahead," said McVey. "All energy is focused on that and it will be a tough meet. It's been three years since our conference has held an Outdoor Track & Field Championship, so only our seniors have been to this championship and that was just once, but we know going in that this meet will be tough. We just have to be ready."
