TUSKEGEE, Ala. (March 19, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) Badgers softball team split results in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) doubleheader with the Tuskegee University (TU) Golden Tigers on Saturday afternoon at the TU Softball Field.
The Golden Tigers (13-9; 6-1 SIAC West) earned a 2-0 victory in the opening game as Ayriana Stoneback (5-1) picked up the shutout by limiting the Badgers to four hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
Paityn Desormeaux (2-2) suffered the loss, allowing five hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 6.0 innings.
The second contest saw the Badgers earn the win in 10 innings as Desormeaux and
Ashley Ortiz drove RBI-singles to put SHC up 4-2 before
Alexandra Ballester (8-3) put a stop to a Tiger rally in the bottom of the frame for a 4-3 victory.
Ballester went the distance, allowing five hits and two walks with four strikeouts while Kaeley Roldan fell to 1-2 on the season with seven hits and three walks allowed in the complete-game loss.
Right fielder
Lindsey Mecom had a double and triple for the Badger cause while Desormeaux was 2-for-4 with a RBI.
The Badgers (14-10; 8-2 SIAC West) will wrap up this 3-game conference series with the Tiger at noon on Sunday at TU Softball Field.
