ROCK HILL, S.C. (March 1, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team ended the 2021-2022 season with a 67-46 loss to the Miles College Golden Bears in the opening round of the 2022 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship Tournament at the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center on Tuesday night.
The West Division's 3
rd-seeded Golden Bears (19-7; 10-7 SIAC West) led the West's 7
th-seeded Badgers by a score of 32-14 at halftime and never looked back.
Tyashia Bostick scored 20 points for the Badgers as SHC shot 27.5% (14-51) from the floor and 33.3% (5-15) from 3-point range.
Zariel Jordan hauled in 11 rebounds. Spring Hill lost 17 turnovers to nine steals by Miles, resulting in 20 points-off-turnovers for the Bears.
The Bears shot 38.9% (28-72 overall and was also 33.3% (7-21) in 3-point shooting, but dominated the boards by a 57-31 margin led by Imani Williams with a game-high 15 rebounds. Camryn London scored 15 points for Miles while Markisha Body put 13 points on the scoreboard. Miles lost 18 turnovers to nine SHC steals, but the Badgers only converted them into 7 points on the other end.
Miles now advances to the championship's quarterfinal round on Thursday at 2:15 p.m. (east) to face the East Division's 2
nd-seeded Benedict College Tigers (20-7; 12-3 SIAC East). The Badgers finishes the 2021-2022 campaign with a 4-24 overall record and a 2-15 mark in SIAC play.
