MOBILE, Ala. (February 19, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) Badgers softball team closed out a 3-game non-conference series versus the University of Montevallo on Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 and 8-2 doubleheader sweep of the Falcons at Murray Field.
In the opener,
Alexandra Ballester (3-2) threw a complete-game shutout over the Falcons (6-5), allowing just three hits and four walks with three strikeouts. The Badgers racked up 12 hits and three walks versus Falcon pitching with just one strikeout.

Brittany Hartung had two hits with a double and two RBI. Catcher
Hailey Vanbrimmer came up with two hits including her first double of the year.
Montevallo took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 3
rd inning of the nightcap, but the Badgers answered right back in the bottom of the frame with a 4-run outburst. SHC put the hammer down with another four runs in the 6
th inning to all but salt away the victory.
Olivia Indorf (2-4) picked up the win in 4.0 innings, allowing three hits and three walks with one strikeout. Ballester closed the door with a 3-inning save that included two hits and a walk.

Sophia Nuzzolillo had two hits and scored two runs from the Badger leadoff spot.
The Badgers (5-6) will travel to Clinton, Miss. on Wednesday to take on the Mississippi College (MC) Choctaws (5-4) in a non-conference doubleheader at 2 p.m. at the MC Softball Complex.
