MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College women's basketball team was defeated by Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) opponent Savannah State, 74-56, at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Saturday.

Spring Hill stormed ahead early and held a 16-11 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers took the lead in the second quarter and didn't look back, defeating the Badgers at home 74-56. SHC falls to 1-9 and 0-5 in SIAC play while SSU improves to 7-2 and 3-1 in conference going into 2023.

Savannah State's Bria Gibbs led the game in scoring with 19 points while also tallying 14 rebounds for a double-double. Spring Hill was led by freshman guard
Iamunique Bowie with 13 points, seven rebounds, two assist and a block. Two other Badgers;
Madison Dowling (10) and
Emyria Harris (12), also recorded double-digit figures in points.

"We started out pretty good tonight but not having our starting point guard [
Yolanda Nelson] hurt us tonight. That also took another veteran leader off the floor leaving us playing with a young team that has taken their bumps and bruises thus far. We must keep working on being confident and taking care of the ball. Rebounding, which hadn't been a huge deal, was an issue for us tonight. We just have to keep working and believe that things will begin to click for 40 minutes."
