MOBILE, Ala. (September 30, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men and women's golf teams took home a pair of victories over the University of Mobile Rams this past weekend in a rare Match Play competition at the Spring Hill Golf Course.
On the men's side,
Brennan Dolnick won his match 7&6 early in singles play then
Jackson Maniscalco and
Chris Brignet closed out their matches 2&1 to give Spring Hill the 13½ points it needed to win.
SHC led 12-4 after the first two days of four ball and four-some matches that left the Badgers only needing 1½ points on Sunday afternoon to secure the win.
On the women's side, the Badgers ladies led by just 5-3 after two days, but
Mary Catherine McDaniel won her singles match early 5&4.
Claire Landry,
Olivia Leinart, and
Ella Katherine Parker then closed out their matches 3&2, 5&4 and 5&4 respectively to give the Badgers the 9 points they needed to win in a hard fought battle.
SHC men next play at the Matt Dyas Invitational hosted by the University of West Georgia on Monday and Tuesday, October 26-26 while the women will be at the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Fall Preview Tournament in Greenville, Ala. on those same days.
