An Open Letter from the Senior Class Athletes of 2021: "Dear Sports"
Dear Sports,

Thank you… Thank you for shaping us into the people we are today. Thank you for being our absolute passion. Thank you for being our joy, our pain, our stress-reliever and pride all at once for all of these years. In moments of success there was no better feeling, in moments of defeat we thought about giving up, but you never let us. You were always there-waiting to push us further. You are so much more than "just a sport." You taught us drive, passion, determination, grit, and dedication and we can never show you how truly grateful we are for that.

Because of you, we were offered a chance to play in college- a dream some of us never thought would become a reality. You gave us the opportunity to travel and meet amazing people who have now become our family. You have taught us that this game is about so much more than ourselves, so much more than the wins and losses.

You have been there for us since the beginning- you're all we've ever known. All those late night practices and long car rides… every ounce of training we ever had came down to this final year. Thank you for the life that you have given us and for helping us find a purpose through you.

While we must now accept that our time has come to an end, we are grateful for every little thing. From the depths of our hearts- thank you for the journey of a lifetime.

The "Senior" Athletes of 2021

Editor's Note: This concludes a series on the SHC Senior Class Student Athletes of 2021 conceived and executed by Carlisle Jamison '21. It was not until about two weeks ago that I realized she had designed this series to be week-long series that concluded upon Commencement Day and for that I apologize but sincerely thank her for the contribution.
