ALBANY, Ga. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team finished its 2021 season with a 72-62 victory over the Albany State University (ASU) Golden Rams on Saturday morning in the Arena at West Campus.
The Golden Rams (0-14) held a 32-26 lead at the halftime break, but the Badgers launched a 24-10 run in the early minutes of the 3
rd quarter to claw out to a 50-42 advantage with 3:35 left in the period.
Ariel Thompson dropped in 20 points to lead the Badgers while
Lindi DeBilzan,
Tyashia Bostick and
Katie Krout added 10 points each. Thompson and Krout also had 8 rebounds apiece. SHC shot 42.4% (25-59) from the floor and 34.6% (9-26) from 3-point distance. The Badgers shot in improved 81.3% (13-16) from the foul line and committed just 14 turnovers against 6 steals by ASU. SHC out-rebounded the Rams 42-36.
Chelsea Hill led the Rams with 13 points as ASU shot 33.9% (21-62) from the field and 33.3% (7-21) from 3-point range. The Rams shot 72.2% (13-18) from the free throw line and lost 19 turnovers to 10 steals by the Badgers.
The Badgers finished the pandemic-shortened 2021 season with a 3-5 overall record.
