MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team suffered a 101-92 loss to the Albany State University (ASU) Golden Rams on Friday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The teams were tied at 47 at halftime, but ASU used an early run in the second half to build out a double-digit lead that they maintained for most of the final period.
Five Badgers reached double-digits in scoring with
John Abate leading the pack at 17 points.
Christian Scott and
David Daniels both added 15 while
Jaden Gray and
Beril Kabamba contributed 13 and 12 points respectively. Gray hauled in a game-high 11 rebounds.
SHC shot 47.5% (38-80) from the field and 29% (9-31) from 3-point range while knocking down 46.7% (7-15) of their free throws. The Badger earned a 45-31 edge in rebounding, but lost 15 turnovers to 5 steals by the Rams.
For ASU, Jordan Simpson scored 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead five Rams into double-digits scoring. The Rams shot a 58.7% (37-63) overall, including 50% (9-18) from 3-point distance. Albany State was 72% (18-25) on their free throw attempts and lost 11 turnovers to 5 steals by SHC.
The Badgers (2-7) will wrap up their shortened 2021 schedule on Sunday at 2 p.m. (eastern) versus the Albany State University (ASU) Golden Rams (3-7) in the Arena at West Campus.
