MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team suffered a 78-69 loss to the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers on Sunday afternoon at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The Golden Tigers (2-3) held a 39-28 advantage at halftime, but the Badgers battled back to make it just a 2-point deficit at 64-62 with four minutes left to play. A few too many late turnovers mixed with excellent free throw shooting by the Tigers over the final three minutes would seal the fate of Spring Hill, however.
SHC freshman guard
Sam Davidson racked up 22 points off a 5-of-10 night from 3-point range while sophomore
David Daniels collected 12 points with a game-high 10 rebounds. Freshman
John Abate added another 13 points off the bench. The Badgers shot 39.7% (25-63) from the field, including 36% (9-25) from 3-point range.
For Tuskegee, guard Gregg Boyd scored 26 points and Steve Dulley contributed 14 points and 7 rebounds. The Tigers shot a healthy 48.1% (25-52) overall, including 40.7% (11-27) from 3-point distance. Tuskegee was also golden at the free throw line making 85% (17-20) of their attempts with 8-of-10 shooting over the final three minutes.
The Badgers (1-3) will next visit the Miles College Golden Bears (4-0) on Saturday and Sunday in Fairfield, Ala. at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
