MOBILE, Ala. (December 3, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team came up on the short end of a 77-60 score in a non-conference home contest with the Flagler College Saints on Friday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The Saints (6-2) grabbed a 15-point lead midway through the first half, but the Badgers rallied to make it just a 35-29 deficit by halftime. Flagler came out hot to open the 2
nd period, however, and built as much as a 27-point lead with 10 minutes remaining in the game.
Beril Kabamba scored 18 points and
David Daniels pitched in 14 as SHC shot 42.9% (24-56) from the floor, but were just 12.5% (2-16) from 3-point range. 20 turnovers by SHC off 12 Flagler steals results 28 points-off-turnovers for the Saints.
Flager's Jaizec Lottie led all scorers with 22 points while teammate Jaleri Barr contributed 20 points. The Saints shot 53.7% (29-54) from the field and 26.3% (5-19) from long distance. Flagler also lost 20 turnovers versus nine Badgers steals that SHC converted into 21 points. Flagler earned a 36-25 edge in rebounding.
The Badgers (1-6, 0-1 SIAC West) will now take a week off for final exams before hosting Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) opponent the Albany State University (ASU) Golden Rams (2-4, 1-2 SIAC East) at 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
