MOBILE, Ala. (December 11, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team returned from a week off for final exams only to suffer a 67-57 loss to Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foe the Albany State University (ASU) Golden Rams on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
SHC held a 14-13 lead over the Golden Rams (2-7, 1-0 SIAC East) at the end of the first quarter, but ASU held a 32-28 advantage at halftime. Spring hill sliced the deficit down to 49-47 heading into the final 10 minutes, but a 9-point Ram run to open the 4
th quarter put SHC into a 60-49 hole from which they could extricate themselves.
Tyashia Bostick scored 18 for SHC as the Badgers shot 38.1% (24-63) from the floor and 21.4% (3-14) from 3-point range. The Badgers lost 15 turnovers to six ASU steal, resulting in 15 points off turnovers for the visitors from Georgia.
Chelsea Hill Pace the Rams with 17 points as ASU made 42.4% (25-59) of their shots and 23.8% (5-21) from 3-point land. The Rams out-rebounded the Badgers 42-37. Abd lost 15 turnovers to seven Badger steals.
The Badgers (2-7, 0-2 SIAC West) next play on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. (east) at the Fort Valley State University (FVSU) Wildcats (1-4, 1-1 SIAC East) in SIAC action at HPE Arena in Fort Valley, Ga.
