Badger women wrench 58-45 victory away from Allen

COLUMBIA, S.C. (November 27, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team ended their season-opening 5-game losing skid with a 58-45 road victory over the Allen University Yellow Jackets at Adams Gym on Saturday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets (2-2) and the Badgers both struggled offensively to open the game as SHC held a narrow 3-1 lead four minutes into play, but then built out a commanding 56-39 advantage with 2:52 left on the clock in the 4th quarter.

SHC guard Tyashia Bostick had her season-high of 28 points, going 10-of-20 from the floor with a 6-of-10 night from 3-point range and two free throws. The Badgers shot just 28.1% (18-64) as a team and 28% (7-25) from 3-point distance, but dominated the boards by a 61-48 margin.

Aniya Keeling led the Yellow Jackets with 12 points as Allen shot 23.7% (18-76) from the floor and missed all 15 of their 3-point attempts. Allen benefited from 27 SHC turnovers, but lost 17 fumbles of their own.

Allen is a provisional first-year member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) as they transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II, so the contest will not count toward the SIAC standings.

The Badgers (1-5, 0-0 SIAC West) will remain in Columbia this weekend to face the Benedict College Tigers (2-3, 0-0 SIAC East) at 5:30 p.m. (east) in the opener of the SIAC portion of the 2021-22 season in HRC Arena.
