DALLAS, Texas (October 6, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's bowling teams opened the 2021-22 season with 2
nd and 1
st place finishes respectively at the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Circuit (SWIBC) I and II Tournaments at USA Bowl on Saturday and Sunday.
At the SWIBC I event on Saturday, the Badger men knocked off the rust with a 2
nd place finish out of 12 varsity teams with a score of 4421 and a 917.432 average over 7.4 games to place second behind a runaway 4957 (970.811) score from Oklahoma Christian University (OCU).
On Sunday, the men picked up their first win of the year with a 6894 score over seven games an impressive 984.857 score to outpace 11 competitors as OCU was 104 pins behind in the runner-up position.
Individually on Saturday, the SHC men saw sophomore
Joshua Wilson finish 22
nd individually out of 109 bowlers with a 167.8 average while senior
Easton Hollis marked down a 162 final average for 29
th place and junior
Cody Schaffer earned a 41
st place finish at 189.5. Sophomore
Calvin Ninh was hot on Schaffer's heels at 42
nd place with 188.25, junior
Beau Reed was 55
th with a 172.5 average and junior
Brandon Bonvillain wrapped up the varsity scoring with a 190.33 average in three games for 73
rd place.
The JV team featured sophomore
Colin Beddingfield appearing in 31
st place overall with a 161.8 average; senior
Danielle Cox from the women's team rolling to a 64
th place tie with teammate freshman
Madalyn Duncan with a 159 average, and freshman
Lucas Hendrix closing the day in 68
th with a 155 average. Junior
Harmony Romano of the women's team was 72
nd with a 144.5 average; freshman
Mac Spiller rolled a 177.667 average in 77
th place; and women's freshman
Lindsie Jackson debuted with a solid 104.5 average over two games.
In Sunday's SWIBC II, Wilson was 4
th place with a 212.143 average; Schaffer was 6
th at 205.143; Hollis was 18
th at 184.571; Reed was 23
rd at 174.714 and Ninh was 44
th at 215.6 in five games. Bonvillain was 60
th in two games bowled with a 190 average.
Spiller paced the JV rollers with a 30
th place 194.833; Beddingfield was 40
th at 184.667; Duncan was 45
th at 179.167; Romano was 46
th at 177; Hendrix was 74
th at 174.8; Cox was 75
th at 174.4; and Jackson was rolled in three games at a much-improved 136 pace.
The Badgers will next host the annual SHC Fall Tournament at Camellia Lanes in Mobile on November 20-21, 2021.
