Softball finishes off Lane with 3-1 victory

MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team completed a 3-game series sweep of the Lane College Dragons on Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) victory at Murray Field.

Spring Hill would score all the runs they would need in the 1st inning as shortstop Hannah Fillmore drove in two runs with a double to left field and was later brought in from 2nd base by a single up the middle off the bat of catcher Aly Fowler.

SHC starter Hannah Brenton (3-6) held the Dragons (1-8, 0-3 SIAC West) to four hits and a walk with seven strikeouts while Kayla Saul (0-5) of Lane took the complete-game loss with eight hits, a walk and two strikeouts.

The Badgers (7-7, 3-0 SIAC West) now travel to Jasper, Ala. to play in the annual SIAC Divisional Crossover Tournament at Memorial Park on Thursday-Saturday, March 12-14, beginning at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday versus Clark Atlanta University on Field 2.
