GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team opened the 2020 season on Saturday with a 9-0 loss to the Rollins College Tars and a 10-2 loss to the 25
th-ranked St. Leo University Lions at the Sportsplex in Day 2 of the annual Gulf Coast Invitational.
Versus the Tars, five errors led to all nine runs by Rollins as senior starter
Hannah Brenton (0-1) took the loss in three innings, allowing just two hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
The Lions grabbed a 7-run lead after the first half inning as starter
Olivia Brown (0-1) failed to record an out and allowed three hits with two walks and no strikeouts before yielding to
Paityn Desormeaux for the next 3.1 innings. Desormeaux gave up just two hits with a walk and three strikeouts as SHC committed another five errors in the field.

Delaney Thomas and
Carlisle Jamison each had doubles while
Hannah Fillmore picked up the lone Badger RBI of the day with a single to right versus St. Leo that brought in
Sophia Nuzzolillo in the 1
st inning.
The Badgers (0-2) will wrap up play in the NCAA Division II Gulf Coast Invitational on Sunday at 2 p.m. versus Union University and again at 4 p.m. versus Rogers State University.
