MOBILE, Ala. - Spring Hill College catcher Aly Fowler has been named to the 2019 NCAA Division II Google Cloud Academic All-America® Softball Second Team, selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Fowler is the second Spring Hill Badger to be voted an Academic All-American during SHC's NCAA era and third in the last six years. Former pitcher Caroline Sagrera was named a First-Team Academic All-American in 2015 and 2014, and catcher Jade Bourgeois was a First Team selection in 2013..

A redshirt junior from Dripping Springs, Texas, Fowler earns the honor with a 4.0 grade point average through the fall semester while majoring in biology. She hit .370 in 33 regular season games played (23 starts). She posted a .982 fielding percentage behind the plate, where she split time with Cassidy Mehr. Fowler had 27 hits and 19 RBI during the regular season.

She appeared in all six of the Badgers' postseason games, starting in four. She hit .444 with three RBI to help Spring Hill to a 4-0 record to sweep the SIAC Tournament and earn the program's first bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament.

The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America® program, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. It separately recognizes outstanding student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
