MOBILE, Ala. - Spring Hill College continued its strong conference play Friday, picking up a pair of 7-0 victories over Tuskegee and LeMoyne-Owen at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Roundup at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center.
In the Tuskegee match, the Badgers won all of their matches in straight sets, not losing more than three games in a single set. Cedric Nitz, Ulf Grosseloh, Ricardo Pena, Chris Mines, Til Behrendt and Kurt Shiell won singles matches, with the doubles teams of Nitz and Shiell, Alex Demel and Behrendt and Grosseloh and Pena also winning convincingly.
Against LeMoyne-Owen, the Badgers took advantage of a pair of forfeits at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles. Spring Hill won all its matches in straight sets and lost no more than two games in a single set. Nitz, Grosseloh, Behrendt, Mines and Frank Amanor all won singles matches and the teams of Nitz and Shiell and Mines and Amanor took doubles matches to complete the sweep for Spring Hill.
Spring Hill continues play at the SIAC Roundup on Saturday, facing Benedict and LeMoyne-Owen at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center.
