FAIRHOPE, Ala. – The Spring Hill Badgers men's golf team placed seventh in its opening event of the season, carding rounds of 319 and 316 for a total of 635. Sprint Hill was the only four-year college in the event.
Freshman
Pete Schilli led the Badgers individually. The Birmingham native carded rounds of 77 and 76 to finish 9-over par at 153.
Seniors
Joseph Mraz and Mac Corbin finished tied for 21
st with a two-round total of 155. Mraz turned in rounds of 78 and 77 while Corbin fired 79 and 76.
Freshman
Alex Heib turned in a two-day total of 165 to finish 35
th and Junior
John Karcher shot 164 for the tournament to finish in 36
th place.
Nick Freis, a sophomore, tallied a two-round score of 166 to finish in a tie for 39
th place. Junior
Phil Later rounded out the Spring Hill effort with a score of 181 to complete the event in 51
st place.
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College won the tournament with a two-round total of 590. Conner Bruce of Wallace State CC was the tournament's medalist with rounds of 69 and 70 for a 5-under par total of 139.
The Badgers will return to the course on for a home match on Monday and Tuesday in the Badger Invitational.
