JACKSON, Tenn. – A 21-point night by
Tiffany Valentine paced Spring Hill College to a 61-56 win at Lane College on Monday night to close the regular season.
After swapping leads in the first quarter,
Stephanie Gregory hit a 3 to close the opening quarter with an 18-16 Badger lead. Lane went back on top early in the second quarter, but an offensive put back by
Ava Verner pushed Spring Hill back on top, 22-21, and spark a 14-4 run to close the first half. Spring Hill led 34-25 at halftime.
The Dragons broke into the lead. Porche' Hannah cut the Badgers' lead to two points, 40-38, late in the third quarter. Alexis Harris kept it a two-point game entering the fourth quarter, but Valentine scored four-straight to give Spring Hill some distance to begin the fourth quarter. Valentine scored 11 of Spring Hill's 19 points in the fourth quarter.
Katie Krout followed Valentine with nine points and 12 rebounds.
Daja Walker scored eight, while
Mathilde Nicolas and Gregory each scored seven.
Antrice McCoy and Chasity Moore led Lane with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Hannah led on the glass with 13 rebounds.
Spring Hill closes the regular season with a 12-14, 8-9 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). The Badgers will next travel to Birmingham for the SIAC Tournament, which begins Monday, Feb. 25. Visit TheSIAC.com for information on the SIAC Tournament.
