No. 3 Bellarmine too much for Badgers men, 98-42

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team suffered a 98-42 non-conference road loss to the 3rd-ranked Bellarmine University Knights on Wednesday afternoon at Knights Hall
 
The Knights (5-0) opened up a 22-11 lead with 10 minutes remaining in the first half and expanded their advantage to 46-20 by the intermission. With four minutes left on the clock, Bellarmine held an 88-40 bulge.
 
Sophomore guard Jordan McIlwain of Atlanta, Ga. scored 11 points to lead the Badgers. SHC shot 34% (18-53) from the field and 15.8% (3-19) from 3-point range. The Badgers suffered 20 turnovers against 11 steals by the Knights and were out-rebounded 42-26 under the boards. At the free throw line, SHC made all three of their foul shots.
 
Chris Palombizio of Bellarmine had 16 points to lead four Knights into double-digits as the home team shot 56.9% (37-65) from the floor and 40.9% (9-22) from 3-point distance while losing just 5 turnovers to 3 Badger steals. The Knights did show some weakness at the free throw line, making 65.2% (15-23) of their charity shots.
 
The Badgers (1-6, 0-1 SIAC West) will take a brief break for the Thanksgiving holiday before returning to action on Monday night at 7 p.m. (eastern) in Atlanta, Ga. at Forbes Arena with a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) game at the Maroon Tigers (2-3, 0-0 SIAC East) of Morehouse College.
