LAFAYETTE, La. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team opened the 2019 exhibition portion of their schedule with an 85-48 road loss to NCAA Division I opponent University of Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at the Cajun Dome on Friday night.
Senior forward
Tiffany Valentine of Houston, Texas, scored a game-high 16 points to pace the Badgers while junior forward
Katie Krout of Tuscaloosa hauled down the game's high of eight rebounds
As a team, SHC shot 34.6% (18-52) on the night including 26.7% (4-15) from 3-point distance while losing 19 turnovers against eight steals by the Cajuns. SHC connected on 78.9% (15-19) of their attempts at the free throw line and won the war under the boards by a 34-31 margin in rebounding.
Makayia Hallmon and Diamon Morrison each scored 12 points for Louisiana. The home team shot 53.6% (30-56) from the field including 47.6% (10-21) from 3-point land. The Cajuns made 78.9% (15-19) of their free throws and lost nine turnovers to five steals by SHC.
Spring Hill will travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., overnight and face the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) for their final exhibition game on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Reed Green Coliseum.
