FAIRFIELD, Ala. – Spring Hill College fell 82-69 on Monday night at Miles College, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference West Division men's basketball leader.
The Badgers' last lead of the game came with 9:37 to play in the first half on a
Jared Holland 3-pointer. It was one of six lead changes in the first 12 minutes of action, which also saw three ties. Miles College took the lead, 22-19, on a Jelani Watson-Gayle 3-pointer with 8:38 to play in the first half and never lost it again.
Justin Allison and
Brandon Fischer each scored to cut it to a two-point game late in the first half, but the Golden Bears carried a 39-34 lead into halftime. Miles grew its lead to 10 points, 50-40, within the first five minutes. It remained a double-digit lead the final 14:40 of play and grew as large as 17 points, 79-64, with 2:36 to play.
Allison led Spring Hill with 18 points, while Fischer produced 15 points and 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season in as many games. Rogers also scored 15 points, and
David Daniels scored 10 points.
Damian Archer led all players with a 30-point performance and seven assists, while shooting 11-of-14 from the floor. Watson-Gayle followed with 15 points. Nathan Sheffield and LaByron Harris scored 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Spring Hill (6-4, 2-9 SIAC) will return home to Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Thursday, Jan. 31 to host Lane College at 7:30 p.m. – the first of a four-game homestand. This week's action also includes a live broadcast on ESPN3 this Saturday, Feb. 2 against Central State University.
