No. 15 Argos hand Badgers 4-1 loss in season finale
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team suffered a 4-1 non-conference loss to the 15th-ranked University of West Florida (UWF) Argonauts at the UWF Softball Complex on Wednesday evening to close out the 2018 season for the Badgers.

Badger sophomore left fielder Sarah Johnson put the Badgers up 1-0 over the Argos (25-14) in the 1st inning with a one-out solo homer off the top of the fence in left field, but UWF answered back when shortstop when Kara Wilson tied the game with a sacrifice fly to left in the bottom of the 2nd inning.

Argos pitcher Tori Perkins (5-4) then helped her own cause in the 4th inning with a solo shot out of right field. An RBI-double to left by catcher Jacquelynne Poling followed a run-scoring single to right by Wilson in the 6th inning as UWF closed the lid on the ballgame.

Perkins limited the Badgers to one hit in five innings with five walks and three strikeouts while Sarah Maloney picked up her first save of the year pitching two innings with one hit, no walks and three strikeouts. Hannah Brenton finished the season with a 15-7 record for the Badgers by going the distance with six hits, two walks and three strikeouts.

In their final year of transition to NCAA Division II, the Badgers finished the year with a 23-14 overall record and an 18-1 mark in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division.
