MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team dropped both ends of a non-conference home doubleheader to the University of West Florida (UWF) Argonauts by the scores of 5-0 and 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Murray Field.
The 24
th-ranked Argos (13-8) used 10 hits to roll to a 5-0 win in the opening contest as UWF starter Sarah Maloney improved to 5-1 on the year in five innings of work with three hits, two walks and four strikeouts.
Baylie Doiron (1-3) took the loss in three innings with six hits, three walks and one strikeout. Meghan Toney had two hits with two RBIs for the Argos while Badger catcher
Cassidy Mehr collected two hits for the home team. SHC second baseman
Delaney Thomas slapped her sixth double of the season in the 1
st inning.
The nightcap saw the Argos break open a scoreless tie with two runs in the 5
th inning and three more scores in the 6
th inning in route to a 6-2 final.
Hannah Brenton (6-3) of SHC took the complete-game loss with 10 hits, three walks and a strikeout. Tori Perkins evened her record at 3-3 on the year in five innings with just one hit and two walks with three strikeouts. UWF left fielder Grace Gilbert, center fielder Rachel Wright and third baseman Tiona Hill each punched two hits for the visitors from Pensacola. Shortstop

th inning.
The Badgers (8-8, 3-0 SIAC West) will remain at home this weekend to take on the Lane College Lady Dragons (1-1, 0-0 SIAC West) in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. followed by a single game on Saturday at 11 a.m.
