MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's tennis team completed their first undefeated conference season since joining the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) for the 2015 season with two more victories at the SIAC Round Up on Saturday at the Mobile Tennis Courts. The Badgers began the day with a 9-0 victory over the LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) Magicians and sealed the top spot in the final conference standings with thrilling 5-4 come-from-behind verdict over the Benedict College (BC) Tigers.
SHC trailed BC 2-1 after doubles play, but rallied to win the singles courts 4-2 with freshman
Cedric Nitz of Germany sealing the victory on the No. 1 Court by taking a grueling 2-6, 7-6, 1-0 victory with a 10-8 tie-break victory in the third set.
After the matches, head coach
John Dotson was proud of his team's effort over the marathon three-day round up. "The team made a great comeback after being down 1-2 after doubles," he said. "Chris (Mines, freshman/Birmingham, Ala.) and Cedric came up big by coming back after being down a set and down in the second set to win in three sets."
