MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) Sandy Badgers beach volleyball team swept to two victories on Friday afternoon in a tri-match hosted by Huntingdon College (HC) by first taking down the host Hawks (1-6) in a 5-0 score and then storming past the Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Railsplitters (1-1) in a 5-0 decision.
Following the matches, SHC head coach
Shawn Taylor liked the way his team reacted to the day's challenges. "It was great to pick up two wins today," he said. "This was the first tournament Huntingdon has hosted and we were thankful to be a part of it. They ran an excellent event."
Taylor also praised his squad's determination. "We were able to get the sweep in both matches today and I think it shows the amount of depth we have," he said. "We were also able to finally break through and get wins at the No. 1 position. We've been knocking on the door and tried a couple different pairs at that spot. We continue to get consistent and quality play from our 4, 5 and 6 pairs and that puts a lot of pressure on the opponent."
