JASPER, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team began play in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Crossover Tournament at Memorial Park on Thursday afternoon with a 14-2 victory over the Clark Atlanta University (CAU) Panthers and a 16-0 win over the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University (FVSU).
In the first game with the Panthers (2-11, 2-3 SIAC East), CAU opened the contest with a two-run homer out of centerfield by shortstop Tatianna Kelly in the top of the 1
st inning, but SHC answered back with three runs in the bottom of the frame and never looked back. SHC would later erupt for a 10-run bottom of the 4
th inning in route to a five-inning Mercy Rule decision.

Hannah Brenton (9-3) earned the win in four innings with seven hits, no walks and five strikeouts while
Julia Waters pitched a hitless 5
th inning with one strikeout. The Badger rolled up 15 hits in the game with center fielder

Delaney Thomas and shortstop
Hannah Fillmore getting two hits apiece and third baseman
Randi DeArmitt leading the charge with three hits.
The nightcap versus the FVSU Wildcats (5-7, 1-3 SIAC East), the Badgers used their second 10-run inning of the day to turn a 6-0 lead into a 16-0 rout in the 6
th inning. Brenton mashed her first collegiate homerun out of left for three runs to put SHC up 9-0.
Starter
Baylie Doiron (2-3) went the distance for a six-inning victory scattering four hits with one walk and 14 strikeouts. Thomas was a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBIs and her 10
th double of the year. The Badgers totaled 16 hits in the contest including four doubles.
The Badgers (13-8, 8-0 SIAC West) remain in Jasper, Ala., on Friday to face the Paine College Lions (0-5, 0-5 SIAC East) at 10 a.m. and the Claflin University Panthers (11-15, 4-0 SIAC East) at 4:45 p.m. at Memorial Park.
