Badger women ride past Thorobrettes, 88-71
FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team cruised to an 88-71 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division victory over the Kentucky State University (KSU) Thorobrettes at the Exum Center on Saturday afternoon.
 
Sophomore forward Tiffany Valentine and senior guard Jewel Hill each scored 23 points while sophomore Elise Reilly poured in 19 points and senior point guard Jennifer Clark collected 15 points.
 
As a team, SHC shot 49.3% (34-69) on the night including 44.4% (8-18) from 3-point distance while committing 18 turnovers against six steals by the Thorobrettes. SHC connected on 80% (12-15) of their attempts at the free throw line, but KSU won the boards by a 43-34 margin in rebounding.
 
Brittani Rizzi scored 24 for KSU as the Thorobrettes (7-15, 6-8 SIAC West) shot 39.4% (26-66) from the field including 27.8% (5-18) from 3-point land. The Thorobrettes made 82.4% (14-17) of their free throws and lost 26 turnovers to 16 steals by SHC.
 
Winners of 10 consecutive games, the Badgers (17-6, 10-3 SIAC West) next face the Central State University (CSU) Lady Marauders (17-4, 11-2 SIAC West) at 5:30 p.m. (East) in Wilberforce, Ohio, in Beacom/Lewis Gym with first place in the SIAC West Division on the line.
