PENSACOLA, Fla. – Spring Hill College dropped a road game at the University of West Florida, 105-74, on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
The Badgers opened the game shooting 60 percent; however West Florida (4-1) shot 75 percent to hold a 34-23 edge at the end of the first quarter and doubled its lead at the half, 56-39. A fifth of the Argonauts points (11) came from the free throw line, compared to only 1-of-2 shooting from the line for Spring Hill in the first 20 minutes of action.
Despite shooting 50 percent (8-of-16) from 3-point range in the first half, the Badgers' perimeter shooting was slowed in the second half to 2-of-9, as West Florida's lead grew as high as 38 points in the fourth quarter.
Tiffany Valentine shot 8-of-10 from the floor to lead Spring Hill with 21 points in 21 minutes of action. It is her fourth-straight game scoring at least 20 points and third-straight shooting 80 percent or higher.
Elise Reilly followed with 12 points, her sixth-straight game in double figures.
Daja Walker and
Stephanie Gregory had eight points apiece.
West Florida's Anna Hall became the second NCAA Division II player this season to record a triple-double, posting 19 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds, while also snatching seven steals. Three Argonauts scored in the 20s: Halee Nieman (25), Toni Brewer (21) and Belle Bistrow (20). Brewer grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
Spring Hill (3-3) will continue its road swing in the Gulf South Conference with a trip to Delta State University on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 5:30 p.m.
