MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team closed out a four-game, two-week road trip on Monday night with a 65-49 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division road loss to the LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) Magicians at Bruce Hall Gymnasium.
 
SHC held a 28-24 lead with 3:10 to go until halftime, but LOC fought back to claim a 30-28 advantage going into the break. The Badgers keep the second half close for most of the way, but the Magicians would stretch out a 55-47 cushion with 3:48 remaining and held as much as a 63-49 lead with 27 seconds on the clock.
 
Senior Walter Massey led the Badgers with 14 points and 10 rebounds while William Loyd added an 11-point performance. Overall, SHC shot 44% (22-50) from the field and just 17.6% (3-17) from 3-point range. The Badgers suffered 19 turnovers against nine steals by the Magicians. At the charity stripe, SHC was 40% (2-5) of their free throw attempts.
 
Rashawn Ellis paced the Magicians (6-10, 2-8 SIAC West) with a game-high 30 points and Demba Konate hauled down 12 rebounds as LOC shot 40.4% (19-47) from the floor and 40.9% (9-22) from 3-point distance. The Magicians lost 11 turnovers to one steal by the Badgers. The Magicians lost the rebounding war 32-28, but shot 72% (18-25) from the free throw line.
 
The Badgers (4-13, 2-7 SIAC West) return home for a Saturday afternoon contest when they host the Kentucky State University (KSU) Thorobreds (6-12, 5-6 SIAC West) beginning at 4 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
