Box Score 2 The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team and the Miles College Golden Bears split results in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) double header at Murray Field on Saturday afternoon as the Badgers took a 9-1 victory in the first game and the Bears rallied for a 3-2 verdict in the night cap to win the weekend series two games to one.

The Bears (6-23; 5-3 SIAC) took a 1-0 lead in the 2
nd inning of the first game off a leadoff homer by second baseman Davis Watkins, but the Badgers answered back with six runs in the bottom of the frame. First baseman
Madeline Burchell got the scoring started with a three-run triple to right and later scored off a sacrifice fly to center by right fielder
Katelyn Wilson. Two more runs scored when catcher
Kali Clement drove a ball between the legs of the shortstop to plate two runs with a three-base error.

Carmen Byrd was 4-for-4 with an RBI and designated player
Mary Glass punched her first home run of the year in the 3
rd inning. Sophomore starter
Danielle Clark improved to 18-8 on the year in a five-inning complete-game effort with five hits, no walks and three strike outs. Kendruena McPherson took the loss with 10 hits allowed, a walk and one strike out.

In the second game, the Badger built a 2-0 lead with single scores in the 4
th and 5
th innings off a bases-loaded walk by third baseman
Rene Kausin and a throwing error by the Bear catcher on a steal of 3
rd base that allowed senior center fielder
Jenna Charnock to scamper home. Miles responded in the top of the 6
th inning with a three-run home run to right field by catcher Kathryne Lambert for her second dinger in two days.

Freshman
Baylie Doiron (4-2) took the loss for SHC with four hits, no walks and eight strike outs. McPherson (2-4) picked up the win in relief of Miles starter Grayson Culverson with 3.0 innings of work with four hits, a walk and a strike out. Culverson lasted 4.0 innings with two hits, three walks and a strike out.

Spring Hill (27-14; 14-2 SIAC) will host the University of West Florida Argonauts (27-8) in a non-conference game at Murray Field on Wednesday beginning at 3 p.m.
