Bears end Badger streak with 3-2 stunner
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team saw its 55-game winning streak in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play come to an end on Friday afternoon at Murray Field when the Miles College Golden Bears took a 3-2 decision away from the Badgers.

Miles starter Grayson Culverson (2-2) and Badger starter Danielle Clark (17-8) kept both sides off the board for the first five innings of play, but the Bears broke out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 6th frame when designated player Kendruena McPherson brought in center fielder Victoria McDaniel from 2nd base with a single to right that was followed by a two-run homer out of left field by catcher Kathryne Lambert.

Spring Hill answered back with a two-run outburst in the bottom half of the inning as center fielder Jenna Charnock scored off a run-scoring single to left by catcher Kali Clement who later scored when second baseman Bayleigh Anders stole 2nd base and the throw down sailed into center field.

The Bears (5-22; 4-2 SIAC) sealed the victory in the 7th inning with fly-ball outs to right and center followed by a tumbling catch in left by shortstop Zakierra Webb to end the game.

Culverson allowed four hits with a walk and three strike outs in the win while Clark also surrendered four hits with a walk and three strike outs.

Spring Hill (26-13; 13-1 SIAC) will attempt to renew the streak on Saturday when they face the Bears in a conference double header at Murray Field beginning at noon.
